André Brunel's family first settled in Châteauneuf du Pape in the 18th century. They own 22 hectares in Châteauneuf du Pape and 40 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône. André Brunel’s skills have earned him worldwide recognition for the intensity and concentration of his wines, combining modern technical expertise with the traditional power of the region. His son Fabrice has now joined the company to continue the family tradition.
A single plot located to the north of Orange which benefits from ideal sunshine, promoting the ripening of the berries. The average age of the vines is 40 years and they are planted in clay and calcareous surface soils over a granitic subsoil.
The grapes were crushed and 80% was destemmed followed by a cool maceration for 24 hours. Fermentation commenced with the introduction of selected yeasts and took place in temperature controlled vats at 28 to 32°C, lasting 10 to 12 days. After running off the juice, the must was pressed and the free-run juice was blended with the press juice.
An elegantly crafted Côtes du Rhône which punches above its weight. Spicy, ripe and velvety with notes of coffee, this is traditionally styled, but with a modern twist.
A lovely match for grilled red meats and charcuterie.
