Tasting Note
An elegantly crafted Côtes du Rhône which punches above its weight. Spicy with notes of coffee.
Producer Note
André Brunel's family first settled in Châteauneuf du Pape in the 18th century and began estate bottling their wines in the middle of the 20th century. They own 22 hectares in Châteauneuf du Pape and 11 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône. André Brunel makes wines from his estate grown grapes as well as grapes from his neighbouring growers that he tends in the vineyards. His son Fabrice has now joined the company to continue the family tradition.
Vineyard
Average age of vines 40 years.
Winemaking
The grapes are crushed and 80% de-stemmed followed by a cool maceration for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation is started by introducing selected yeasts and takes place in temperature controlled vats at 28-32C lasting 10-12 days. After running off the juice, the must is pressed and the free-run juice and press juice are blended.
