Intense cassis aromas followed by hints of toast on the nose. On the palate it has notes of fruit , morello cherries and dark chocolate and big but ripe tannins, finishing with a hint of cedar and vanilla.
Château de Valois was built in 1862 from the restructuring of the original vineyards of Château Figeac. Today the same family owns it and constantly improves the quality and produces great Pomerol wines. The vineyard was totally replanted in 1956.
Double guyot trained vines. Average age of vines 25 years old.
Fermentation in small temperature controlled concrete vats for 28 days, followed by 14 months ageing in oak casks (35% new) on the lees with no racking.
With duck, game or grilled red meats.
