Haut Bages Monpelou is Chateau Batailley’s little brother and has special cellar facilities in Batailley. Haut Bages Monpelou and Chateau Duhart Milon, originally one property, were separated in 1948. Duhart Milon was acquired by the family Lafite-Rothschild while Haut Bages Monpelou was kept by the family Casteja.
Grape varieties: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc
Surface area of vineyard: 15 Ha
Annual Production: 48,000 bottles
Vinification: Fermentation for 14 – 18 days, followed by 12 – 16 months maturation in oak barrique, 30% new.
Taste: A Cru Bourgeois showing oak and blackberry character with fine tannins in a style typical of this appellation. An excellent vintage.
