Adobe Carmenere 2015

Tasting Note
Its aroma reflects ripen fruit perfectly balanced with sweet and toasted notes given by wood and a touch of spices, the main characteristic of the Carmenere. On the palate, this wine has soft and well balanced volume with ripe tannins which leave a great flavour and persistence.

Producer Details
With 250 hectares of Institute for Marketecology (IMO) and Demeter certified organic vineyards and a further 250 hectares in conversion, Emiliana is one of the world’s most important producers of Organic and Biodynamic wines. Their spectacular Biodynamic vineyard and winery at Los Robles is a model that attracts visiting viticulturalists and winemakers from all over the world. Jose Guilsasti (viticulture) and Alvaro Espinosa (winemaking) were key to establishing this project but there is a wealth of young talent involved. These innovative wines are made with great care and attention and the results are inspiring. The flagship Coyam has already become one of Chiles iconic wines but the whole range excels.

In The Vineyard
The Colchagua Valley goes from San Fernando to Chimbarombo to the south. The climate is Mediterranean; it receives dominant southern winds with the entrance of morning fog. Summers are hot and with great temperature differences.

In The Winery
The grapes were hand picked in late April and underwent a week long pre fermentation cold treatment of 8oC to extract more fruit characters.
Malolactic fermentation took place naturally and 20% of the wine was aged in French oak for 6 months.

Food Recommendations
This wine matches perfectly with pasta dishes with spicy sauces, red and white meats and pâtés. It also goes well with cheeses like camembert, Roquefort and goats cheese.

Awards & Press
2009 Vintage: “Spice, dark forest fruit and savoury notes on the nose. Good concentration of fresh, lively berry fruit flavours. Well-made red.” 3 stars /
recommended, Decanter Magazine, July 2011
