 | June News LetterDear Friend
Finally some decent weather has arrived and we were able to dust off the barbecue and put some rose wine on ice! Clearly we were not the only ones to have rose in our thoughts as not only did the Stella Rosado from Portugal sell really well at our Spring Tasting, but we have been sending out a number of other roses to our website customers, with the Chateau de l'Aumerade from Provence and the Torrelongares Garnacha Rosado from Carinena in Spain proving to be particularly popular.
We have also been busy tasting new products, including a great everyday Sauvignon Blanc, called Faultline, from the St Clair winery in New Zealand; Duc de Charlane Champagne - a second label from Moutard; and a Pinot Grigio glugger, but with taste, from Sacchetto. All of these wines can be seen on the New Listings page on our website. We have also started to up-load some exciting new South American wines, the first one of which is Carmen Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, which is delicious!
We have some super promotions for this month on Argentinean wines from Michel Torino in Cafayate and Dona Paula in Mendoza. The Dona Paula wines are new wines for us, and we were really bowled over by the purity of the fruit in them. So why not try some of them this month and take advantage of the promotional prices. We are also offering £1 off per bottle on our Pazo Rosqueira Albarino, making it just £10.85 instead of £11.85, which is a really good price for this superb almost cult wine from NW Spain. In addition we are offering Macon Villages 2008 from Domaine Botti at just £8.36 instead of the list price of £10.42 (this is due to a label change) - there is a limited supply of this wine so don't delay, it won't be available for long!
For those of you who like wine selection boxes we have put together three six bottle selections, from Italy, Australia and Spain and these are a great way of trying a few different wines. We have also reduced the price of our entry level Australian pair of wines making them a very affordable £4.99. With Australia in mind, don't forget we are having an Australasian tasting at home on Sat 26 June, when we will be showing 10 wines from Australia and New Zealand, followed by a two course supper for which we need to make a charge of £25 per head. Tickets have been selling well for this event, but there are still a few remaining so if you are wanting to come please phone or email asap to reserve your places. The evening starts at 7.30pm and is likely to finish sometime between 11.30pm and 12.00 midnight.
In the meantime, some future dates for your diary are as follows:
Sat 26 June Australasian Tasting plus supper at home
Sat 18 Sept Italian Tasting plus supper at home
Fri 24 Sept Tasting in aid of CORD at The Lord Leycester Hospital
Thurs 18 & Fri 19 Nov Pre-Christmas Tastings at The Saxon Mill
Please take a moment to look at our website and to forward this email to friends and colleagues who might also be interested.
Cheers!
