July News Letter

Hello Friend

June was another busy month for us and one in which we loaded many new wines onto our website, including some great quality English Wines from the English Wines Group who produce wines under the label of Chapel Down, some stunning wines from Oveja Negra in Chile, Faultline Sauvignon Blanc (a quaffing Sauvignon Blanc from the wonderful St Clair winery) and we finished putting on the Carmen range of wines from Chile - we highly recommend all of these new products, so why not check them out!

It has to be said that we heaved something of a sign of relief when the new Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that (for once!) he was not going to raise Excise Duty in the budget on 22 June, and the proposed VAT increase was postponed until January 2011.  I daresay that many of you joined us in our relief!

We have been busy networking at various events including the Warwickshire Business Club where I met with many interesting business owners.  Towards the end of the month we held an Australasian tasting which was great fun and we were able to hold it outside on what was a balmy summer evening.  Some of the favourite wines of the evening were St Clair Sauvignon Blanc (as always!!), their Riesling was also very popular.  Plus The Black Shiraz, and Penny's Hill Grenache was thought to be a delicious juicy rounded red.

Two wines which we think are perfect for summer drinking are Bishops Leap Sauvignon Blanc - NZ Sauvignon with pungent tropical fruit flavours, and our ever popular Clos de Torribas Crianza which with its warm Mediterranean fruit flavours and mid weight hits the right note with slightly lighter foods whilst still delivering great depth of flavour.

Take a look at our Monthly Specials page where we are offering a couple of Rhone valley stunners, plus two very popular Chilean wines from the family owned Echeverria winery, plus we are continuing to offer £1.00 off Pazo Rosqueira Albarino which is perfect with fish and seafood.  The Macon Blanc Villages 2008 from Domaine Botti is still available at £2.00 less per bottle just because it has a discontinued label on it!!

Well, I am off on a buying trip to Spain shortly so I will be leaving things in the capable hands of friends and family and I will burst into print again in August!

Hasta luego!

Lindsay
