Chateau Fortia Tradition Red 2006 - Chateauneuf du Pape

Chateau Fortia is a symbolic estate in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, both for its location and its roots that are closely linked to that of its appellation. Bruno Leroy de Boiseaumarie is the descendant of a family whose name is closely identified with the fight to establish appellations of origin. In 1929 due to the efforts of Baron Pierre Leroy, Chateauneuf du Pape became the first appellation with a set of winemaking regulations. However, Bruno Leroy does not rest on his laurels. Instead he strives to make people aware of his 30 hectare property and that of the appellation launched by his grandfather.

Grapes: 85% Grenache, 15% Syrah

Yield: 30HL per hectare

Vinification: The grapes are de-stalked. Fermentation in temperature controlled tanks with a long maceration lasting about 21 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in large oak barrels. After racking the wine is aged for 12 months in oak casks followed by a further 12 months in bottle prior to release.

Taste: A distinguished wood-matured wine with lovely red fruit, black pepper, well integrated tannins, a smoky bouquet and a long and elegant finish.

Serve: At room temperature to accompany strong flavoured meat dishes, game and mature cheese.
