Diorama Merlot & Syrah Gift Box

This stylish gift box contains one bottle each of Merlot and Syrah wines plus four little flasks of essences, which correspond to the most characteristic fragrances of the two wines.  This will help help you to become familiar with the wines and to distinguish them.  A short guide to wine tasting is also included with the first tips on how to start in this passionate world. 

Merlot

These grapes were also grown organically in the Muntanyans vineyard.  They are de-stemmed and stored in boxes so that the maceration, which will last about twenty days, can begin.  The wine is pressed to stop the maceration.  It is passed through several containers and is then stored in oak casks for four or five months before it is bottled.

Appearance:  Clean with violet and mahogany tones

Aroma:  Raspberry and cherry fruit mingled with vanilla and a light toasting from the oak ageing

Taste:  A highly complex wine, with good body and a lingering finish

Drink with:  Sausages and most grilled meats

Syrah

These grapes were grown organically in the Coll de Bou vineyard.  They are de-stemmed and placed in boxes and macerated for a week.  The grapes are then pressed and the fermentation is finalised.  After passing through several containers it is stored in oak casks for three or four months.  Finally it is bottled ensuring that all its flavours are fully preserved.

Appearance:  Clean with violet and bluish tones

Aroma:  It stands out for the strength of the fruit, such as blackberries intermingled with violets.  There are also hints of dried figs and chocolate

Taste:  A full flavoured wine with red berries with underlying rounded tannins of low intensity

Drink with:   Complements many meat dishes including roast meats.  Also good with hard cheeses.
