Champagne Moutard is a traditional family run business situated in the picturesque village of Buxeuil. The vineyards are located in the southern Part of Champagne, on the sunny slopes of the Cotes des Bar. Very old cellar books relate their activity as vine growers back to the 17th century. Their Champagnes are made from their own grapes and the grapes that they buy in from friends that are also vine growers.
The clay and chalky soil of the Cotes des Bar gives a rich and very specific aroma to the traditional champagne vines, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
In order to offer perfectly mature Champagnes, the cuvees are left to mature in their cellars for a minimum of three years and up to fifteen years for vintage champagnes
Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Note: The Clay and chalky soil of the Cote des Bar vineyards help to produce rich and full-bodied wines that remind one of the vintage Chablis produced in the neighbouring area.
Ageing: The wine is left on its lees and only disgorged to fulfil an order. The wine is aged for 8 to 15 years.
Serve: This Champagne should be chilled, not iced. It is a Champagne for great meals and special occasions, to be tasted like a vintage wines.
Taste: This great cuvee is the result of the excellent soil and a long family tradition of winemaking. Prolonged ageing on the lees make this a special Champagne, full of honeyed and biscuity notes harmonised with the weight of the Chardonnay from which this wine is made.
