Cantina Bonacchi, founded in 1965, is a family owned winery that is situated in the heart of the Montalbano Hills, that lie between the towns of Florence and Pistoia in Tuscany and has been making fine Tuscan wines for 3 generations
The family owns 40 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Montalbano and Chianti Classico Gallo Nero as well as 10 hectares divided between Brunello DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC and the Sant'Antino DOC, and 15 hectares from Montecucco DOC vines.
Bonacchi's combined production comprises 60,000 HL stored in barrels, barriques, oak tonnaux and modern steel tanks. Cantina Bonacchi is ISO9001 2000 and IFT certified.
The family's main goal is to produce quality wines at reasonable prices. 50% of the production is exported to Europe, U.S.A and Japan whilst the remainder is sold to all sectors of the Italian market.
Grapes: 100% Sangiovese grapes from hillside vineyards. Vinification: Temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 8 days skin maceration and 9 days malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for 6 months in oak barrels and 12 months in steel tanks followed by a minimum of 4 months in bottle prior to release.
Serve: At 16-18°C to accompany roast meats, steaks, game and mature cheese
Colour: Ruby red with a tendency to garnet with age.
Taste Dry and velvety with and intense bouquet and a supple, lingering finish
