The Joblot family has been producing fine wines for over three generations. They own 13 hectares of vineyards in three 1er Cru areas in Givry and lay great emphasis on vineyard management with small yields. Their total production is 6,000 cases per annum and their wines are exported to the USA, Canada, Europe as well as Japan. The wines are vinified in new barriques resulting in powerful but elegant wines of top class quality. These sought after wines have limited availability.
Givry is a village situated west of Chalon-sur-Saone, and in the heart of the Cote Chalonnaise. Givry, famous as the preferred wine of King Henri IV, produces mostly red wine. These reds have more structure and ability to age than those of neighbouring Rully but less depth than Mercurey. The Givry appellation covers 520 acres of vineyards
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir from south facing hillside vineyards. Half of the vines are very old.Soil: Clay & limestone
Vinification: In stock vats. The wine was then matured in Allier oak barrels (2/3 new) for 14 months, followed by 4 months in bottle prior to release
Colour: Deep red
Taste: Deep coloured, full flavoured Pinot Noir matured in new oak from what is considered to be the top estate of the area. A very classy, powerful and elegant wine with silky tannins and lovely balance through to a fine finish, very long and complete. Serve: At 15-16C with terrines, cold meats, grilled and roast meats, poultry and firm cheese
