For Umberto Cesari, producing good wine in Emilia Romagna is a family tradition. It is here that Umberto and his wife Giuliana started their company in 1965, when they bought 20 hectares of land in the hills. Their ambition was to turn Sangiovese into a great wine, reflecting the typicity of the area. The winery has continually expanded and today the estate extends over 100 hectares divided into distinct vineyards; La Casetta, Parolino, Cà Grande and Laurento, each of which provides the perfect micro-climate for the vines planted. As pioneers of quality in Emilia Romagna, Cesari has gained international recognition and has been awarded 'IWSC Italian Winemaker of the Year' four times in the last 15 years.
The grapes come from a careful selection of estate grown Albana grapes from hillside plots on the Podere Colle del Re Estate. The average age of the vines is 15 years old and they yield approximately 10,000 kg per hectare. Careful canopy management keeps the vines healthy and enables the clusters to reach optimum maturity. The vines are grown in clay soils which help to retain moisture and cool the vine in warmer climates.
The grapes were pneumatically soft pressed and the must fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was left to rest in tank for three months prior to being bottled.
Dry and delicately scented, with a fruity and smooth texture. A refreshing white wine with a distinctive underlying almond note and an elegant finish.
At 10 to 12°C as an apéritif or to accompany typical Emilian pasta dishes such as tortellini, fish in sauces or stuffed pastas, such as tortellini and ravioli
