Reynal Rosado 2009, Vino de Aguja

This is a very Spanish wine!  Bodegas Pinord in Vilafranca del Penedes was the first winery to produce a Vino de Aguja, something of which they are very proud.  Reynal Vino de Aguja has been produced by them since 1945.  A Vino de Aguja is a semi sparkling wine from Spain.

It is made by the following method:  When the appropriate grapes for producing this style of wine have passed all the necessary quality controls, the fermentation process is started.  A Vino de Aguja has a maximum pressure of 3 bars, so the oenologists control the fermentation paying particular attention to the residual sugar.  When they have the correct level of residual sugar to reach 3 bars of carbon dioxide, the wine is transferred into a closed tank where it is kept under pressure until it is bottled.  The whole process is controlled at 16 degrees centigrade.  As a result this wine has been elaborated with its natural sugar.

Grapes:               100% Tempranillo

Appearance:        Transparent and clear with an orange pink hue. It gives off a small quantity of carbon dioxide bubbles which make it visually very attractive.
Aroma:                A complex aroma arising from the fermentation process and the varieties of which it is made.

Taste:                  Extremely smooth on the palate achieving a perfect balance between acidity and body. The carbon bubbles make it light and fresh.

Serve:                 Served well chilled this is a perfect aperitif or delicious with a light lunch served alfresco
